PROJECT HELIPORT

HELIPORT

This project deals with the development of a landing platform for vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

The platform, also called heliport, also provides a system for charging the landed UAV, a mechanical system to hold the UAV in place during transportation and a shelter system to protect it from environmental influences. The whole system UAV / heliport manages itself without human intervention.

Researcher

Project's aim

An application scenario for such a system is where the landing platform is mounted on the roof of a delivery truck.

The truck approaches a delivery zone and presents a package to deliver to the drone. The drone autonomously brings the package to the customer and returns the the delivery truck.

The drone provides the last meters solution. After delivery, the drone returns to the delivery truck where it can be safely carried while being recharged.

Another application scenario is the use of the system UAV / platform for site monitoring.

After its turn of duty, the UAV autonomously return to the landing platform where it can be recharged and protected from the environment without human intervention.

Key features

Heliport overall size is roughtly 0.9 x 0.9 x 0.5 m³.

The landing platform has dimensions 0.65 x 0.65 m².

There is no limit on the dimensions so that they can be adapted to various helicopters.
